Aktualisiert: 13. Apr 2020

In February 2019, my girlfriend and I took a short one-week trip to Eilat, Israel. Eilat is extremely famous among the birding community as being one of the best places in the world to witness the miracle of bird migration. We were a bit early for bird migration, nevertheless, we experienced some pretty sweet birding.

Bluethroat | Blaukehlchen (Luscinia svecica cyanecula). It was amazing to see these wetland birds out in a dry park in the desert. Eilat, Israel.

Palestine Sunbird | Jerichonektarvogel (Cinnyris osea). Eilat, Israel.
Desert Finch | Weißflügelgimpel (Rhodospiza obsoleta) feeding on Anabasis setifera. I have a particularly weak spot for "pink-winged finches", so I was very pleased to find those stunners just before sun set. Yotvata, Israel.
White-throated Kingfisher | Braunliest (Halcyon smyrnensis). Eilat, Israel.
Pied Kingfisher | Graufisher (Ceryle rudis). Eilat in the backdrop. Eilat, Israel.
Black-winged Stilt | Stelzenläufer (Himantopus himantopus). Having a rest before continuing their migration. Eilat, Israel..
Spur-winged Lapwing | Spornkiebitz (Vanellus spinosus). Eilat, Israel.
Greater Flamingo | Rosaflamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus). Eilat, Israel.
